Derek Blackshaw

Derek Blackshaw qualified as a general nurse and a mental health nurse he is now an independent Nursing Consultant. As a Director of Mental Health Nursing he developed one of the first nurse led CBT services in the country. He has also served as an NHS general manager (staying as a nurse), Nurse Advisor to a Health Authority, Director of a metal health charity providing day services and Lecturer on Quality and Risk Management in the NHS.

Much of his current practice is now in the provision of expert witness reports on nursing and care with particular emphasis on psychological effects following trauma and in brain injury. Derek has held office in the Royal Collage of Nursing at national and local level acts as an RCN steward representing members working in the independent sector.
