Roy was personally trained by the legendary Charles Tebbetts in 1983, and started teaching professional hypnotherapy at a college south of Seattle in 1987. His parts therapy book published in 2005 by Crown House Publishing, HYPNOSIS FOR INNER CONFLICT RESOLUTION, comes highly praised by professionals around the world. This in-depth book on parts therapy has created a much greater demand for Roy’s parts therapy workshops.
Roy’s earlier hypnosis texts, The Art of Hypnosis and The Art of Hypnotherapy (Kendall/Hunt Publishing, 1994, 2000), are required or recommended reading at many hypnosis schools around the world. He also contributes articles to professional hypnosis journals.
Roy was inducted into the International Hypnosis Hall of Fame for his written contributions to the hypnotherapy profession, and in 2005 received the “Order of Braid” for lifetime achievement with hypnosis. Recipient of numerous professional awards, Roy received an honorary Ph.D. from St. John's University for life experience in hypnotherapy. In 1998 he served as an adjunct faculty member at Bastyr University, teaching a graduate level class on hypnosis. His current experience also includes working with terminal cancer patients for the Fanciscan Hospice in Tacoma, Washington.
