Janet became a volunteer at the Worcester Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre (WRSASC) in March 2001 after undertaking training. This involved supporting women who had suffered sexual violence or childhood sexual abuse. From August 2001 until January 2004 she was employed as Training Co-ordinator and Supervisor. Her role involved the provision of internal training and supervising volunteer supporters, also delivering external training to:
| ● | West Mercia Probation Service with small groups of female offenders raising awareness of Child Sexual Abuse and Rape Trauma Syndrome (RTS) based on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). | |
| ● | West Mercia Police - training Sexual Offences Liaison Officers about effects of sexual violence. | |
| ● | Worcester County Council employees - Assertiveness Training, Telephone Skills, Dealing with Aggression. | |
| ● | Domestic Violence Forum – raising awareness of services offered by WRSASC and the effects of sexual violence. | |
| ● | Parent Partnership – counselling and listening skills delivered to groups of volunteers to enable them to deal with parents of children with special needs. | |
| ● | Teaching students attending a counselling skills course at Worcester College of Technology over one academic year. | |
Whilst employed at the WRSASC additional training was undertaken in the following areas:

She also received training as a Restorative Justice Conference Facilitation, becoming the first Restorative Justice Conference Facilitator in Worcestershire.
Janet has also worked as a volunteer counsellor for Cruse Bereavement Care and Family Support Team for Noah’s Ark (a charity for bereaved children) and is now engaged in private practice working as a Counsellor, Clinical Hypnotherapist and Trainer.
